What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda is an ancient system of medicine that has its roots in the Indian subcontinent, dating back thousands of years. The word “Ayurveda” is derived from the Sanskrit words “ayur,” meaning life, and “veda,” meaning knowledge or science. Therefore, Ayurveda can be translated as the “science of life” or the “knowledge of longevity.” The fundamental principles of Ayurveda are based on a holistic approach to health, emphasizing the balance of mind, body, and spirit. According to Ayurvedic philosophy, each person is unique, and health is a state of balance between three fundamental energies or doshas known as Vata, Pitta, and Kapha.
